It’s the ‘Discovering Your Passionate Purpose’ 4th Bookiversary

Four years ago today, I planted a flag in the ground and Discovering Your Passionate Purpose (DYPP) was released into the world.

(Yay!!! It’s her 4th Bookiversary!! You can get her here CAN / USA)

Vanessa Long, the author, opens the box of the first printing of her book, Discovering Your Passionate Purpose.

But she wasn’t new, not really.

I’d already been walking with this work and using it with my clients for almost a decade by the time I wrote the book.

Teaching it. Living it. Embodying it.

The Discovering Your Passionate Purpose workshop first came alive in 2013, long before I was ready to call myself an author. It shaped my coaching practice and transformed me.

It evolved from the P.A.R.T.Y. Goal-Getting System – raise your hand if you’re *that* OG!!

I quickly realized that there was NO POINT setting goals if you didn’t know why you were here. Very quickly, the ‘P’ in PARTY expanded to include Purpose, and because it’s me, it had to be Soul Purpose.

The typical ‘life purpose’ exercises and books out there never went deep enough for me. They seemed so focused on finding the right ‘job’ that it made me recoil…

You didn’t come here for a job!

You came here to be a revolution!

That was always the heart of this work.

And when it came time to write the book, I knew I wasn’t just compiling transcripts, I was creating a container for transformation.

A spell and a soul transmission. A portal.

Writing a book from the deepest place in you and then sending it out into the world is one of the most disorienting and holy things you can do.

No one really tells you what it takes.
Or the trouble it’ll cause.

How much you’ll meet yourself. How you’ll have to choose the Story that this is who you are and why you’re here. And the growing pains of creation and letting it go into the world.

I shared stories in DYPP that I’d never had the courage to tell and there were many tears shed while I was writing. There were times I didn’t think I’d be able to finish. It was far from perfect.

But when I held the first proof copy in my hands, I knew: this is my legacy.
This is the work I am here to do and the direction we’re heading.

Discovering Your Passionate Purpose became my line in the sand.
A declaration that I am a Soul on a Mission… and so are you.

A woman works on Discovering Your Passionate Purpose to find her Soul Mission and legacy.

Your Soul didn’t come here to go through the motions, it came here for a Revolution

You came here to evolve the world.

That’s what Passionate Purpose really means.

It’s not about finding your “perfect fit career” or finally monetizing your gifts in the right offer suite.

It’s about anchoring into the truth of why you chose to incarnate at this time, in this body, with these people, in this particular corner of an evolving world.

That’s the heartbeat of Discovering Your Passionate Purpose.

Because in a world constantly selling us someone else’s vision, the most radical thing you can do is slow down long enough to ask yourself what you really came here for.

Not what’s practical. Or strategic. And definitely not what’s acceptable.

Instead, digging down into what’s Soul-deep true.

The One Question That Changes Everything

Very early in the book, I ask this question:

“What do you want to be remembered for?”

I ask it early because I want to set the bar high.

When you sit with the question as a devotional moment you begin to see what your Soul actually values. You begin to feel where you’ve gone numb. Where you’ve been chasing someone else’s idea of success. And where your fire has dimmed under layers of effort, obligation, and survival.

It’s a remembering.

Set a timer for 3 minutes and write – see what flows out as you start the inquiry into what you want to be remembered for. See what flows out of you when you stop trying to be reasonable.

Then, sleep on it and do it again tomorrow. Let yourself be stunned by how big your Soul truly is.

Because Legacy is more than what you leave behind when you die.
It’s what echoes around you every day as you live.

It’s the movement you lead and the boundaries you set.
The frequency that follows you into the room. And the radiant ripple your life creates simply by existing in alignment.

When you choose to remember what you want to be remembered for, you re-enter your life differently.

You stop surviving and start weaving. You stop asking permission and start building something that changes the world.

Discovering Your Passionate Purpose’ is so much more than a book.

A book is never just a book.
It’s a mirror. A guide. A threshold.

That is what Discovering Your Passionate Purpose‘ was always meant to be.

More than information. Initiation.
More than motivation. Reclamation.

A sacred companion for the woman standing at the edge of her own life and asking,

“Is this really it?”

No. There is always more. More truth, life, joy, power. More of who your Soul exquisitely designed you to be.

Discovering Your Passionate Purpose shows you why you incarnated and what your Soul wants to accomplish in this lifetime.

Four years later, I feel that even more deeply than I did on the day it was released. I’ve seen this work change lives. Bring hope. End unhelpful Stories that keep us trapped.

This work still feels like a line in the sand. A declaration and manifesto. And it still feels like the beginning of everything that came after. It was the beginning of my Story as a Coach and as a woman of Destiny.
